Programme Aim

The HKU Master of Science in Marketing offers a rigorous and cutting-edge learning experience, with a focus on best marketing practices and strategies in today's fast-changing economy.

Upon completing the programme, you will be able to:

Mode and Duration of Study

The MSc(Mktg) programme extends over a minimum of one academic year and a maximum of two academic years for full-time study. Most students tend to finish the programme in one academic year.

Courses are offered on a modular basis to allow students to focus on one area of study at a time. There are 6 modules in one academic year and each module is six to eight weeks long, including the examination week.

Students usually take 2 courses per module and there are 4 three-hour classes each week.

Medium and Course Assessment

The programme will be taught in English. 

In addition to individual assignments and exams, some courses also require students to work on project presentations in a team setting. Case studies will be used to illustrate the application of marketing skills in real world situations as well.

Graduation Requirements

Students are required to successfully complete ten 6-credit courses (60 credits), including four core courses, one capstone course and five elective courses.

Students who have failed a course shall be required to retake the course. If the failed course is an elective, students may choose to take another elective course as a substitute. In order to graduate, the total number of failures cannot exceed two in the entire period of study and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above must be achieved.
